Hi there! My name is Emily, I'm the sole owner and operator of Woven Oak. Here's a little bit about me.
At my core, I am a nature-lover. That can sound strange or obvious, as who doesn't love nature?! For me, it is the very earth beneath my feet, and the creatures big and small that inhabit it, that inspires me every day. Many people believe in higher powers or divine entities, for me my faith lies solely in the world around us. My biggest hero is David Attenborough, who taught me almost everything I know about nature and, by extension, myself.
I have a dog, Honey, a rescue greyhound/saluki mixed breed. When I'm not compulsively taking photos for the Woven Oak Instagram, you can find me out in the Peak District countryside ambling with my furry friend.
Anyhow, that's enough about that! Here's a little bit about how WO came to be.
It all started in 2015. I was 17 years old and found myself unable to work or study due to bad health. Stuck at home all day, I knew I needed to provide for myself and the only way to do that was to create my own business.
I thought a lot about money, about where I saw gaps in the market that I tended to shop in, and how I could fill those gaps. I wanted to create a brand that was fair and affordable without compromising on style or quality. I wanted to create a brand that was inclusive, that opened its arms to anyone and everyone without isolating them for not looking like supermodels or celebrities. I wanted to create a brand that felt friendly, had a face behind it and a personality that said, 'Come on in, have a seat, take a look at what we have for you!'. A brand that was comforting and felt like an old friend, one that lets you be whatever you want to be.
And so Woven Oak was born.
At the heart of Woven Oak is nature. I take so much solace and serenity from walking through the forest, listening to a dappling stream, or gazing up at the stars in the night sky; and want to bring that wonder to you and your lifestyle, wherever you may be.
Woven Oak takes its inspiration from the elements, animals, folklore, and magic. But with it comes a minimal, Hygge-like simplicity inspired by Scandinavia and it's beautifully laidback yet practical way of living. It's designed to be simple, but never basic.
4 years later, and it's bigger and better than ever before. Little 17-year old me could never have dreamed to have made the friends and followers WO has during this time, and it's truly wonderful to see my vision being shared by people all over the world. I hope that this vision rings through to you, reader, and that you find your little spark of magic in whatever you choose for yourself. Know it is chosen, packaged, and shipped with every bit of fire running through the veins of Woven Oak; and that you are part of this story.
